Truck’s Saggy Suspension

We were asked:

“My wife pulls our 39′ Fifth Wheel with our 1986 Ford F-150. The suspension seems a bit saggy and the trailer wanders. Suggestions?”

Gee, can’t imagine why you’re having handling troubles!? In reality, pulling a trailer requires the proper equipment, concentration and practice especially if you have not had experience. For example, passing a semi-trailer unit can give you momentary handling problems. Over-steering to correct the initial sway can aggravate the situation until it becomes severe. Over braking will also exaggerate the sway, leading to a possible jack-knife. Read more >>
