Truck’s Saggy Suspension

We were asked:

“My wife pulls our 39′ Fifth Wheel with our 1986 Ford F-150. The suspension seems a bit saggy and the trailer wanders. Suggestions?”

Gee, can’t imagine why you’re having handling troubles!? In reality, pulling a trailer requires the proper equipment, concentration and practice especially if you have not had experience. For example, passing a semi-trailer unit can give you momentary handling problems. Over-steering to correct the initial sway can aggravate the situation until it becomes severe. Over braking will also exaggerate the sway, leading to a possible jack-knife. Read more >>

Taxes and Your RV Purchase – How it Works

We’ve been asked quite often:

“We have been led to believe by the experts on coffee row that there are taxes on all used RVs purchased at an RV dealership while on the other hand there are no taxes on a unit purchased privately on someone’s driveway. Is this true and if not, what are the tax implications on a used RV? I don’t like paying any more #*%# taxes than I have to.”

In the case of a private purchase you are required...read more >>

Best time to buy an RV? by TRX RV

We were asked:

“When is the best time to buy a new or used RV. Some friends have told us that there is a show sometime in January / February every year at the Prairieland Exhibition Trade Centre in Saskatoon – could you please tell us where to go?”

While it is true that three out of the dozen local RV dealers do offer inventory for sale for 10 to 12 days at that time, the deals simply go on and on at TRX RV. And I’ve heard they have a wide selection to choose from and are easy to get along with at TRX. Remember, a show such as the one that runs at Prairieland can cost the dealer plenty in overhead, and those $$ have to be recouped somehow, even while you are trying to buy from them. Normally, people choose whether they prefer to deal in the first half of the year before holidays or in the last half after they have seen new options while on holidays. There is no right or wrong time to deal.
